BUDGET Photography Gear SHOOTOUT | ft. Manny Ortiz | Ep 5
I recently took part in the "Budget Photography Gear Shootout" with the talented Manny Ortiz, a photographer, and YouTuber known for his tutorials. The idea behind this shoot was to see what happens when experienced photographers are given entry-level or outdated gear.
Manny and I each had our own equipment to work with. I used the Sony A6400 with a 17-70mm 2.8 lens, while Manny used the Canon M50 Mark II with a 50-200mm 4.5-6.3 lens. Our lighting equipment was a mix of budget-friendly options, including speedlites and custom-made mag mods.
The shoot was all about the lighting, and both Manny and I were confident that we could bring out the best in our photos despite the budget gear. Manny was particularly excited about using hard light and gobos to create patterns in his portraits, while I was going to play around with the Speedlite to fill the ambient light.
We each took turns shooting with our gear and then compared our photos to pick our favorites. And let me tell you, the results were fire! With the right lighting and some creative direction, we were able to produce some stunning images.
In the end, it was a great reminder that it's not the camera but the photographer that makes a great image. With a little creativity and the right lighting, you can achieve amazing results even with budget gear. So don't let a lack of expensive equipment hold you back from pursuing your photography passion.
So, what do you think? Which one of our photos was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
