Wedding Photography: What to Bring to a Wedding | What's in My Bag (2021)
As a wedding photographer, packing for a wedding can be overwhelming, but it's important to have all the essentials in order to capture the special moments. In this post, I'll share with you what I pack for a wedding day, from my gear to the little things that make a big difference.
First and foremost, let's talk about my main case, the Porter Case. It's a hard case that rolls like a hand truck and I absolutely love it! I've been using this case for years now and I'm on my third one. It's durable and has all the locks and compartments you need to keep your gear safe. Inside, you'll find a mirror for some fun shots, business cards, masks, earplugs, cough drops, and hand sanitizer (which is always number one on my list).
For my photography gear, I use a Canon EOS R5 as my main camera and I always pack my 28-70 f/2 lens, which is by far my most used lens. I also bring along a macro lens, a 135 f/2 lens, and an adapter with a control ring to fit onto the R mount. Although I rarely use it, I also pack my 7200 EF lens, just in case. I have a Profoto A1X flash and I always pack extra batteries and a charger. My backup camera is a 1D X3 and I also pack extra memory cards for peace of mind.
In terms of lighting gear, I bring my five-in-one Glow Reflector and a small 12-inch reflector. I also bring a cold case that holds my diffuser and the stand for the flash. And last but not least, my schedule holder is a must-have. It has a magnet and a pen, so I'm always prepared for any changes or notes I need to make.
And there you have it, everything I pack in my bag for a wedding day. Having these essentials not only helps me do my job, but also allows me to be prepared for any situation that may arise. Whether it's a 6-hour wedding or a 10-hour wedding, I know I have everything I need to capture the beautiful memories for my clients.
