Canon RF 28-70mm F2: Best Lens for WEDDINGS!?? (Review)
As a wedding and portrait photographer, I recently had the opportunity to try out the Canon RF 28-70 2.0 lens and I have to say, this lens is a BEAST! It's huge and definitely not for someone looking for a lightweight gear setup. But, despite its size, it has the potential to replace three prime lenses: 24, 35, and 50 millimeter.
The first time I took this lens with me was for a proposal shoot at the Gershwin Theater in New York City. The lighting conditions were dark, and using a flash wasn't an option as it would have given away the surprise proposal. This lens came to my rescue and allowed me to capture the event with its fast 2.0 aperture and 28 to the 70-millimeter range.
I was able to capture wide shots and zoom in for close-ups to capture the reactions on her face. It was like having three lenses in one and it saved my butt that day. The photos turned out great and the couple was thrilled with them. This lens is perfect for situations where you need to be quick and capture the moment without worrying about switching lenses. I haven't used this lens at a wedding yet, but I plan to once I get my hands on the Canon EOS R5.
Overall, the Canon RF 28-70 2.0 lens may be expensive, coming in at just under $3,000, but it's worth it for the professional photographer or advanced hobbyist. If you're interested in some posing inspiration, be sure to check out my free posing guide.
