TONS of posing ideas for your next engagement shoot!
Welcome to a captivating journey through a beautiful fall engagement session! In this blog post, I'll not only share my shooting and editing techniques but also delve into the process of creating an album that clients absolutely adore. So, let's dive in, and if you're enjoying this content, don't forget to hit subscribe and ring the bell for notifications.
Setting the Scene: Picture this: a chilly morning at Skylands Manor, with me bundled up in a coat and my clients, Adam and Amanda, braving the cold for their engagement shoot. Despite a post-wedding tiredness, creativity was flowing, and the magic was about to unfold.
The Power of Questionnaires: One of my secret weapons? A comprehensive questionnaire. By understanding the couple's style, preferences, and unique dynamics, I tailor the shoot to reflect their story. Engagements are all about warming up to each other, and the questionnaire plays a pivotal role in breaking the ice.
Signature Moves and Interaction: Walking, cuddling, and genuine interactions—these are my go-to moves. I prefer capturing the couple engaging with each other rather than focusing on me. It creates an authentic atmosphere and allows for those candid moments that truly shine.
Playing with Light: Lighting is the painter's brush in photography. In this session, I experimented with various lighting techniques, from natural light with a 45° angle to dramatic and soft lighting. Reflectors and off-camera flash added dimensions, enhancing the visual narrative.
Creative Flourishes: Ever seen a Golden Glow or a rainbow flare in photos? I confess to breaking a few rules to capture that enchanting aesthetic. Adding white rose petals from a previous wedding brought an extra layer of magic to the session.
Crafting the Perfect Album: Enter Fundy Album Designer—an absolute game-changer. With a 40% Black Friday discount, it's a steal. I took my clients through the album design process on Zoom, incorporating their favorite photos seamlessly. The software's user-friendly interface allowed for easy tweaks, black and white conversions, and retouching, resulting in a stunning final product.
Bouncing the Eyes: I live by the mantra of "bouncing the eyes." Whether it's storytelling sequences, full-page spreads, or layout experimentation, Fundy Album Designer offers unparalleled flexibility. The final album design, featuring moody and soft lighting, perfectly encapsulates the essence of Adam and Amanda's love story.
Thank you for joining me on this real client engagement session. These photos will be cherished by Adam and Amanda as they journey towards their 2025 wedding in New Jersey. Engagement photos are not just for announcements; they become a part of the couple's story, adorning homes and serving as timeless mementos. Until next time, happy shooting!
