FASTEST way to dewrinkle photos! | NEW Canon RF 35mm F1.4 + Canon R6 Mark II
Today I want to share a little story from a recent engagement session and how I found the fastest way to dewrinkle photos using the new Canon RF 35mm F1.4 and Canon R6 Mark II.
The Engagement Session in the Rain
Okay, so picture this: it’s pouring rain outside here in New Jersey, but my clients specifically wanted a trendy direct flash look in a dark bar environment. Luckily, we were shooting at the Shadowbrook, which has this gorgeous dark bar, perfect for the style they envisioned. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I got a call from my bride.
“Vanessa,” she said, “we live in White Plains, New York, but my dress was in New Jersey at my parents' house. I just picked it up this morning and didn’t have time to steam it. We’re already late, but you can just Photoshop out all the wrinkles, right?”
The Power of AI Retouching
A couple of months ago, Evoto released their de-wrinkling feature in their AI retouching program, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer. I knew I could de-wrinkle that dress in one click. So, when she arrived, I reassured her, “Don’t worry about it. You look awesome, and I’ll handle the wrinkles.”
The Shoot
We started the session with some lovely poses in the dark bar setting. Here are some highlights:
- Romantic close-ups: I had them lean in for a kiss, look into each other’s eyes, and capture those genuine moments of affection.
- Classic bar shots: Whispering in his ear, holding hands, and those intimate, stoic looks made for perfect shots in this moody environment.
- Fun and playful poses: We did some over-the-shoulder looks and even a cute one with her legs over his lap, capturing that playful, romantic vibe.
Changing the Lens
I switched between different lenses to get a variety of shots. The Canon RF 35mm F1.4 and Canon R6 Mark II performed beautifully, allowing me to capture the intricate details and emotions effortlessly.
Post-Processing with Evoto
After the shoot, I went home and used Evoto’s AI retouching to de-wrinkle her dress in seconds. The results were incredible. I edited a handful of photos to show her the next day, so she wouldn’t worry about the wrinkles ruining her engagement pictures.
My Editing Process
Here’s a quick rundown of my editing process:
- Basic Edits in Lightroom: I adjust colors and apply my style to all the photos.
- Retouching for Prints: For any photos included in their album or printed through me, I use Evoto for complimentary retouching.
- Selective Retouching: I don’t retouch every photo extensively, just the ones they love and will print.
